how to begin

To begin at St. Johns Reading Room, reach out to us via phone call, e-mail, or the Contact Us form. From there we follow the process below to ensure that our program is the right fit for your child and to provide you with all of the information you need to make the best decision for your family!

  • STEP ONE:
  • READING EVALUATION

Our Reading Evaluation is a one-hour summative assessment of your child’s current reading abilities. This evaluation will cover the areas of phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, sight word recognition and sentence structure.

Disclaimer: The evaluation DOES NOT provide a diagnosis of dyslexia or other reading disabilities. It is used to identify areas of difficulty in reading, compare the student to grade level expectations, and determine if intervention is necessary.

  • STEP TWO:
  • DATA REVIEW MEETING

Data review charts from child reading evaluationThe Data Review Meeting is a separate one-hour informational meeting to review your child’s evaluation data and discuss reading intervention using our program.

Your child’s evaluation data is displayed in organized graphs to help us see current abilities in relation to grade level expectations. All data is given for families to take with them and use as needed.
